What is Sports Medicine Acupuncture?
Sports Medicine Acupuncture combines perspectives of both Western Medicine and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) in order to assess, diagnose and treat the person as a whole. By combining a range of complementary therapies, outcomes for sports and work-related injuries can be achieved more rapidly and with prolonged beneficial results.
Mahsa Ahmadi completed her extensive training and certification in the advanced program of Sports Medicine Acupuncture (SMA) in Boston in 2013, becoming Vancouver’s first Registered & Certified Sports Acupuncturist. Her holistic approach to sports acupuncture determines what the immediate issue is and what the root cause could be. In addition to using TCM, she integrates diagnostic techniques from Western Medicine, order to realize the most efficient and powerful results for her patients.
For sports, work-related injuries, and acupuncture for back pain, Sports Medicine Acupuncture uses postural examination and orthopedic rehabilitation evaluation to assess the musculoskeletal system. Other modalities like body-work, manual muscle testing, assisted stretching (PNF), corrective exercise prescription and nutrition are often incorporated into the treatment sessions.
Your progress will be reassessed and evaluated throughout your treatment program in order to ensure that your recovery is as rapid, complete and lasting as possible. This thorough approach to assessment and treatment lead yields optimal results.
